Frequently asked questions
Is Social Transcript free?
Yes. You can get transcripts for free without creating an account. We may add a paid plan later for bulk exports and AI summaries, but the basic transcript stays free.
Which platforms are supported?
TikTok, Instagram Reels and video posts, YouTube (including Shorts), X (Twitter) videos and Facebook videos. More are coming.
What if the video has no captions?
If a video has no existing captions, we generate a transcript from the audio with speech recognition. That takes a little longer, usually under a minute.
Can I get transcripts of private videos?
No. Only public videos work. If you can watch the video in a private browser window without logging in, we can transcribe it.
Which languages work?
Transcripts are returned in the video's spoken language. Most major languages are supported, including English, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, Hindi and Japanese.
Do you store my videos or transcripts?
We don't store videos. Transcripts are cached briefly so repeat requests are fast, then deleted. We don't use them to train AI models.
